Thursday, October 15th:
9:00 AM – 1:00 PM: LGBT-FAN Welcome and Working Session at United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees offices, located at 1800 Massachusetts Ave NW, Suite 500, Washington, DC 20036. This session will featuring a review of what we’ve accomplished to date and where we’re heading, including strategizing and preparing for the afternoon’s small group meetings during a working lunch from noon til 1:00 PM. NOTE: all participants must bring any photo ID to enter this building.
1:00 PM – 4:00 PM: Small group policy meetings with federal legislative staff and federal agencies. (Optional).
5:00 PM – 9:00 PM: Panel discussion and press briefing of Stronger Together, LGBT-FAN’s Best Practice Manual for working with queer asylum seekers and asylees, produced with support from the Human Rights Campaign and The National LGBTQ Task Force. Reception to follow.
Friday, October 16th:
9:00 AM – 1:00 PM: Best Practices Guide Training Program, which will instruct participants on how to implement the guide; includes working lunch from noon til 1:00 PM.
1:00 PM – 3:00 PM: LGBT-FAN membership meeting – formal membership meeting, what we’ve done and where we are going; advocacy brainstorming session. Addressing, among many things, if we are going to be a funding body or provide direct services. Of special interest to current and potential new members.
3:30 PM – 5:00 PM: LGBT-FAN Advocacy Brainstorming Session. UPDATE: this event is no longer by invitation only and is now open to all.
6:00 PM – Onward: Informal Dinner at Nando’s Peri Peri. If you are interested in grabbing dinner (cost not included) with the LGBT-FAN family this night, please indicate this on the registration, and we’ll see you at 1210 18th Street, Washington, D.C. 20036.
Saturday, October 17th:
9:00 AM – 12:00 PM: LGBT-FAN General Meeting for LGBT-FAN membership to focus on strategic and implementation planning, working lunch included. Of special interest to current and potential new members. Working lunch included.
12:00 PM – 2:00 PM: LGBT-FAN Steering Committee meeting. By invitation only.
7:00 PM – 9:00 PM: Center Global’s monthly dinner and support meeting, located at the The DC Center for the LGBT Community, 2000 14th St NW #105, Washington, DC 20009. (Optional).
